Singapore MRT offline map: what works without mobile data?

An offline rail map is useful underground or before you have a local SIM. It is important to know which features are included on the device and which need an online service.

Android is not publicly released yet. A Google Play download link will appear after production launch.

What works offline

The iOS and Android apps include the rail network map and station data. You can browse lines, search station names or codes, view saved stations and plan an estimated station-to-station rail route without a connection. On the Web, first open the app online so its offline assets can be cached.

What still needs internet

Street maps, address searches, walking directions, timetable requests, service advisories and station crowd reports require online services. An offline route gives an estimate based on the network, rather than a timetable-aware departure. Do not assume that a cached page proves a train is running now.

A first journey from Changi Airport

Find Changi Airport station on the network map and choose your destination station. Check the recommended transfers and direction of travel. Airport terminals and rail platforms are different places, so follow the airport signs to reach the station. Plan onward travel before leaving Wi-Fi if your mobile connection is not ready.

No account or location required to browse

You can use station search and rail route planning without creating an account or granting location permission. Location is useful for nearby stations and walking routes, but is optional. The app does not request background location.

What to prepare before losing your connection

Features and connectivity
FeatureWithout internet
Native rail map and station searchIncluded on the device; does not confirm current service.
Native station-to-station routeEstimated route; does not verify current departures.
Web rail mapRequires a successful earlier online visit and retained browser cache.
Street map, address and walking routeRequires the online OneMap service.
Timetable, alerts and crowd reportsRequires a fresh online query; old data is not a live status.

Before leaving Wi-Fi, open the app, check your origin and destination names and codes, and note the interchange. Plan for battery life and the final walk too: a rail diagram explains the network, rather than the entire door-to-door journey.

Two onward choices from the airport branch

From Changi Airport (CG2), you can change at Expo (CG1/DT35) for the Downtown Line, or at Tanah Merah (EW4) for the East West Line. Choose based on your final station and available service; a single interchange is not best for every city destination.

For Bugis, the Expo connection offers an option to compare via the Downtown Line. For an East West Line destination, check the onward direction at Tanah Merah. Verify the complete route and the day’s first/last trains before departure, especially for a late arrival.
